A QUIET ADVERSITY

The United States is often seen as a bastion of wealth and opportunity around the world. Comparatively, this is true; however, the wealth is not homogenous. There are many individuals who immigrate to the country who lack resources and guidance. When presented with such adversity, these people often find themselves lost and, often between familial responsibilities and general confusion, end up unsuccessful.

According to the most recent survey by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, nearly 29 million immigrants reside in the United States; of these immigrants, half of them do not possess a bachelor’s degree or higher. This leads to a lack of guidance for youth within these families, which can often result in the perpetuation of a cycle in which future generations are trapped.

This does not need to be the case, and general trends show that such adversity is beginning to relent. Our organization prides itself on doing everything it can to contribute to continuing this trend in a positive direction. Together, we can address the struggles that immigrant communities face and will make this land of opportunity one such for all those within.

Developed countries’ residents often face adversity too; this fact must not be ignored.
